Strange morning

I was in the middle of a beautiful dream when the alarm clock rudely broke the illusion and brought me into that very gray morning. It was so misty that birds seemed to be swimming rather than flying. Oh why did it have to be Monday again? I hate Mondays. Not because they’re Mondays but because they’re not Sundays.

So I finally got out of the bed and wanted to take a nice hot shower but guess what - there was no hot water. (Did I forget to pay the bill again?). “Whatever! Forget the shower!” I thought. “A warm cup of coffee always makes it better,” and I went to the kitchen. But my plan was doomed to fail ‘cos I was out of coffee. That’s what happens when you forget shopping list in the pocket of the wrong pair of trousers. And that explains why the fridge was also empty.

Now my only hope to get some breakfast was the cookie jar on the very top shelf. Full of hope I reached out… and some moments later opened the empty jar. That Monday looked more like Friday the 13th. I started to put the cookie jar back when it suddenly slipped out of my hand, landed on the radio and turned it on. That changed everything.

When the music started it felt like the sun had come out. The next moment I made a cup of tea and found an unopened box of biscuits behind the can of tea. And that wasn’t all. Suddenly I realized that it wasn’t Monday at all. My calendar had stopped for two days so it was really Wednesday and not that bad at all. So I happily went to work.

Amazing how one song can change the day. Even if I can’t remember anymore if it was Aerosmith’s “Livin’ On The Edge” or R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts” which played on the radio on that very moment but it doesn’t matter anyway. My day was saved.
