Coffee vs. Music

Is music better than coffee or vice versa? Yes, it’s almost as emotional subject as is football better than sex but let’s put feelings aside and take it as almost pure science.
If you haven’t tried neither coffee or music and you want to try one of them, how to choose?
There are several species of coffee bush, eight roasts of coffee beans and hundreds of different coffee drinks. It’s the same with music – you have to choose from hundreds of genres and millions of artists. Beware! Not all the coffees taste the same and music may be different as night and day. So where to begin? Let’s take a look what they’re made of.
To make a coffee you need roasted and grounded coffee beans and boiling water. The result will be a dark brown and bitter drink. And there is no other reason to drink that but caffeine. The caffeine has been consumed since stone age mainly because of its abilities to ease fatigue, stimulate awareness and elevate mood. It can also turn you into something like an energizer bunny. Even more – according to Herman Friele (chairman of the Norwegian coffee manufacturer “Friele”): “Sleep is just a symptom of caffeine lack”.
On the other hand music is just a sound wave. You don’t even need any musical instrument to make music (for example singing). Some might say that noise is also music but let’s leave that opinion aside. So there are twelve notes and you may combine them however you want. Still buying a record and listening to it is somewhat easier. Now what makes music so special that we’re comparing it with coffee? It has no chemical components in it. Yes, but the listener has. If you listen to the music you like then your brain will produce endorphins and they have effects similar to narcotics like heroin and morphine. Very powerful thing, huh!
Perhaps now it’s time to give you some practical advise. If you’re new to both coffee and music it’s probably better to start with something softer. Unless you don’t want to lose your teeth or hearing. Yes, believe me – while both may be sources of ultimate pleasure they can also be very destructive. So order caffé latte or add cream or sugar by yourself.
But still which one is better, music or coffee? I suggest you to take a cup of coffee (it doesn’t matter if you prefer latte, espresso, cappuccino or maybe the Irish one) and put on your favourite record and try to figure it out by yourself. Maybe it’s best to have them both at the same time.
